Celebrating 25 Years of Giving
Help us select a nonprofit organization to receive a special donation
CST just turned 25, and we want to celebrate by making an additional $25,000 donation to one of the many 1% for the Planet member nonprofit organizations we annually support. Here are the nominees, representing our four main categories of giving. We're asking for your help in deciding who to support at a higher level. What cause is most important to you? Which one would you like to see this special gift go to? Voting ends December 31, 2024 (limit one entry per person).

Protecting the Environment
Hearts in the Ice
Hearts in the Ice is a platform for social engagement that connects students, scientists, manufacturers, environmental organizations, and all who care about the health of our planet in the conversation around climate change. The organization promotes global dialogue surrounding issues relating to adventure, female leadership, STEMM, sustainability, innovation, exploration, diversity, climate action, alternative energy, and pushing our boundaries to deepen our understanding of how powerful individual action can be.
Mamoni Valley Preserve
The Mamoní Valley Preserve (MVP) is dedicated solely to conserving the biodiversity of Panama’s Mamoní Valley, a 29,000-acre watershed located in the upper Rio Mamoní region, which serves as a critical biological corridor connecting North and South America in the center of one of the most crucial of our planet’s 36 biodiversity hotspots.
Promoting Sustainability in the Lab
My Green Lab
My Green Lab is a environmental organization with a mission to build a global culture of sustainability in science. The organization is the world leader in developing internationally recognized sustainability standards for laboratories and laboratory products, bringing sustainability to the community responsible for the world's life-changing medical and technical innovations. Laboratories are one of the most resource-intensive spaces in any industry, but they don't have to be. By introducing both a new perspective and proven best practices within a carefully crafted framework, My Green Lab has inspired tens of thousands of scientists to make a positive change in their labs by reducing the environmental impact of their work.
Beyond Benign
Beyond Benign envisions a world where the chemical building blocks of products used every day are healthy and safe for humans and the environment. Beyond Benign's mission is to foster a green chemistry community that empowers educators to transform chemistry education for a sustainable future. Beyond Benign equips educators from K-20 with the ability to teach chemistry and STEM through a lens of sustainability grounded in the 12 principles of green chemistry. By providing educators with tools, training, and a peer support network, educators are equipped to train the next generation of scientists and citizens with the skills and knowledge to create and choose products that are safe for human health and the environment.
Inspiring the Next Generation of Scientists
Seeding Labs
Seeding Labs has spent the last 15 years working to overcome a major barrier to global development: the extreme concentration of scientific capacity in just a handful of countries. Their mission is to increase access to resources for science in developing countries. Their flagship program, Instrumental Access, focuses on supplying lab equipment to underresourced institutions, providing essential tools for addressing some of their countries' most pressing issues. They are helping build a more equitable world where scientists everywhere are equipped to lead the way to a brighter and healthier future.
Science from Scientists
Science from Scientists (SciSci) has a mission to teach and inspire the next generation to identify and solve real-world problems by improving STEM literacy. Access to impactful STEM education is pivotal to our planet’s future, yet the current state reflects substantial disparities and challenges. With the US facing a STEM education crisis, where students rank low in science literacy and achievement gaps persist across communities, SciSci’s In The Field (ITF) environmental program offers a first-of-it’s-kind approach to providing equitable, engaging, and effective STEM education experiences while also designing world-class robotic solutions to help protect the environment. Our technological solutions demonstrate to students that what we learn in the classroom can be translated to real-world technology to address conservation challenges—the first of which is the lionfish invasive species crisis decimating the Atlantic Ocean’s reef ecosystem.
Supporting our Communities
World Central Kitchen
World Central Kitchen (WCK) was formed in response to the catastrophic 2010 Haiti earthquake. WCK is first to the frontlines providing fresh meals in response to humanitarian, climate, and community crises. By partnering with organizations on the ground and activating a network of local restaurants, food trucks, or emergency kitchens, WCK serves comforting meals to survivors of disasters quickly and effectively.
International Medical Corps
International Medical Corps is a global first responder that delivers emergency medical and related services to those affected by conflict, disaster and disease, no matter where they are, no matter the conditions. It also trains people in their communities, providing them with the skills they need to recover, chart their own path to self-reliance and become effective first responders themselves. Established in 1984 by volunteer doctors and nurses, it has no religious or political affiliation, and now has more than 8,000 staff members around the world, 96% of whom are locally hired. Since its founding, it has operated in more than 80 countries, and has provided more than $4.5 billion in emergency relief and training to communities worldwide.
